I am a graduate of Wayne State University. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science in May 1996. My minor was English. I currently work for Editorial Code and Data, Inc., a company that provides typesetting, editorial, data processing, and other information services. My job as programmer is to do some typesetting, editing, proofreading, and programming of client applications and of our own products.
Over the years, I have programmed in Pascal, Delphi, C++, Visual Basic, Access Basic, Postscript, and HTML. Some of the software packages I’ve used are: Borland Pascal 7.0, Delphi 2.0-4.0, 2005 and 2007, Visual Basic 5.0, Access97, Access 2000, Access 2007, Visual Interdev 6.0, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Distiller, Microsoft Office, WordStar, and Pitstop Professional. Currently I mostly work with Delphi 2007, Postscript, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Distiller, Pitstop Professional, and Access 2007.
Aside from my interest in computers, I like to read, listen to music, watch TV, and occasionally, though not recently, needlepoint and cross-stitch. In the past year I’ve taken up crocheting and completed a couple of projects. I also enjoy taking walks in the park, going to art museums, botanical gardens, and the zoo. Spending quiet time with my husband is also a joy for me.
I like to read fiction. I’m quite fond of the Mitford series of books. I eagerly anticipate any new Mitford book that’s scheduled to come out. I’m also a fan of the Midnight Louis series of books by Carole Nelson Douglas. My husband and I have taken an interest in Shirley Rousseau Murphy’s The Joe Grey Cat Mystery series of books. We like to take turns reading to each other. I hate romance novels, but I do like Debbie Macomber’s books and enjoyed watching Cedar Cove on the Hallmark Channel. The music I listen to is mostly new age, classical, jazz, some folk, and soft rock now but my music tastes change often depending upon what type of mood I am in so who knows what type of music I will be listening to next month.
As for my favorite TV show of all time, that used to be The X-Files, followed closely by The Young Riders. After watching the latest 6-episode series of the X-Files in 2016, I realized my fandom has waned quite a bit. Recently I’ve become a fan of Scorpion (I’m addicted to this show!), NCIS:LA and The Big Bang Theory (BIG Shamy fan!). I also enjoy watching old movies and am currently on a mission to see all of Harold Lloyd’s surviving films and all of Cary Grant’s films. Not a small feat since each made dozens of them. As of now, I’ve seen 55 Cary Grant films and 36 Harold Lloyd films Thank heavens for Netflix! My favorite actors are Harold Lloyd, Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn. My favorite movies of all time are The Sound of Music, Bringing Up Baby, I Do, and Girl Shy.
