New Website URL

I’ve recently changed the URL to this blog. Although I don’t normally like the word “branding”, I guess you can say I wanted to “brand” my various websites. Walking the Pathways is the title of this website. I also have a Tumblr blog called Walking the Pathways. And, although not called Walking the Pathways, I also have a Weebly website in order to display my travelogue entries. I wanted all my sites to have as uniform a URL as possible. Therefore, if you have come to this site by typing in http://jpsimkin.wordpress.com or if you have my site bookmarked, I ask that you please make note that the new URL is https://walkingthepathways.wordpress.com and change any links or bookmarks you have accordingly. The redirect I currently have set up on this website will be active until November 2017. Please make any changes necessary before then.

If you would like to check out my Tumblr blog, just click on the link in the above paragraph. My individual travelogue entries can be accessed by either clicking on the links on the Travelogue page on this website or by clicking the Weebly website link in the paragraph above.

Travelogue Changes

To everyone who enjoys my travelogue entries, changes are coming. I received an email last week from Comcast letting me know that as of October 8, 2015, Comcast will no longer host web pages. My travelogue entries are on my Comcast website, so that meant I had to investigate free web hosting sites to see which met my needs.

Ideally, I’d like to be able to upload my photos and currently built HTML pages but looks like none of the sites I investigated allow me to do that. These sites want to make things easy by providing web-based builder tools and a “no coding needed” way of doing things. Problem. I don’t mind coding. I am a programmer. I like the control I have with coding. Oh well, it’s not like I’m a paying customer, so I can’t complain too much.

After a bit of investigation of another site, which seemed to meet my needs, except that their web page editor was incredibly frustrating to use, I settled (for now) with weebly.com. As a tester, I rebuilt my most recent travelogue post, “Presque Isle, MI 2014”, on this platform. Check it out here.
